finger food

Eidan ate his first finger food yesterday!

After much research of which baby food easily melts when eaten, we bought Gerber Graduate Veggie Puffs (Sweet Potatoes). The puffs were small enough that Eidan will need to exert a bit of effort and practice his pincer grasp. This was one of the things that his pediatrician wanted for him to develop. He tried a couple of times but he just couldn’t get the food to his mouth. He grabs the food, which ends up locked up on his palm, so he ends up placing his fist in his mouth. After much trying, he was able to put one in! Knowing his age and his corrected age as well, this is a big thing. My husband and I were so proud! We were clapping and cheering him on to motivate him more and let him know that he did a great thing =D

3 weeks straight

The past 3 weeks has been great. This has been the longest that Eidan has gone without a cough or a cold. Yey! We can't really say if it was his exposure to the other kids in the daycare or if was the weather that caused our little peanut to be very sickly these past 3 months - especially now that we've pulled him out of the daycare and spring has started.

It was a challenge looking for a sitter since we do not know much of the people in our neighborhood yet. We've only been acquainted with our neighbors on the direct north, south, east and west side of our house. Fortunately we were able to get my cousin's sitter to take care of Eidan. The only downside is that we have to drive 20 minutes to the sitter's house. But this will do for now. We're hoping and praying that we can get a slot for Eidan back in the daycare by the time he turns one this year. Hopefully his immune system is stronger by then and his lungs have caught up in terms of development.

Eidan's development all in all has been good basing it on his adjusted age of 6 months. We just had his 2nd neonatal follow up last Tuesday. It's a medical checkup where you have a panel of people - the NICU doctor and the speech, occupational and physical therapists. They play and talk with Eidan using various techniques to score his development. The result was good overall. We just need to see a physical therapist for a few sessions to develop his core more. They said that at this age, Eidan should be able to sit unsupported and that his muscles should be relax when you try to make him stand - two things that we have to work on.
