blisters..

on the nipples.. yup! on the nipples.. and i never thought i could have one there.. =/

i've been exclusively pumping milk since i delivered since our little peanut still needs time to grow and learn how to feed by mouth..

it's more difficult when you have a premature baby as the onset of lactation is delayed..

i've been pumping for three days before i even saw two, three drops of milk.. and this was only on the left side.. by the six day.. the right side gave us just two drops.. =/

then came the blisters..

i saw tiny transparent spots on my nipples with red specks within them.. the lactation consultant told me these are blisters and that they are normal.. the red specks i see are broken capillaries which may cause the milk to turn pinkish due to blood.. there's no cause for alarm as the milk is still safe for the baby..

im now on my 12th day pumping and still not producing the amount that our baby needs for each feeding.. so he takes whatever i can produce and for the rest, formula is used..
