Day 2

Day 2 in the hospital

More tests every half an hour or so.. Rest is really something you've to sneak in every now and then..

They gave me some steriod shots to help stimulate the baby's lung development.. At 30 weeks one of the most common problems for premature babies are related to the lungs..

They also gave me some meds that relaxas the smooth muscles in the body such as the uterus to minimize, if possible stop, contractions. This is to prevent the cervix from opening up. We wouldn't want that to happen until we've at least completed my steriod shots.

One thing to note once your water bag ruptures, you and the baby are now more prone to infections. Hence, the antibiotics, both through the IV and pills.

Tonight at 12 midnight ill be getting the last set of meds used to prevent contractions. It becomes a waiting game after that. If my body gets more contractions, they said they wouldn't do anything to prevent it anymore as it would mean that the body really is trying to tell us that the baby has to come out. It could also be because we've gotten an infection and the body is helping the baby not to get it.

Now we wait..
